社會科學院新聞研究所，需符合下列成績標準：

For Graduate Students:

Students must have their transcripts reviewed and we must reach out to the academic department to get approval for the student to attend ASU and take courses (upon nomination).

Minimum academic workload per semester:

12 credits for undergraduate students

9 credits for graduate students

For Master's students, they are allowed to take undergraduate courses/subjects/units

ASU accepts the TOEFL iBT® taken in a testing center.

ASU accepts the TOEFL iBT® Home Edition for exams taken January 21, 2026 or after.

TOEFL iBT® Paper Edition is not accepted.

For the general requirement programs, the minimum overall score is 4 with minimum section scores of: Reading: 3.5, Writing: 3.5, Listening: 3.5, Speaking: 3.5.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing: minimum overall score of 4 with minimum section scores of: Reading: 3.5, Writing: 3.5, Listening: 3.5, Speaking: 3.5.

Ira. A Fulton Schools of Engineering (higher admission requirement programs only): minimum overall score of 4 with minimum section scores of: Reading: 3.5, Writing: 3.5, Listening: 3.5, Speaking: 3.5.

Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication (higher admission requirement programs only): minimum overall score of 5 with minimum section scores of:  Reading: 3.5, Writing: 3.5, Listening: 3.5, Speaking: 3.5.

International exchange students are automatically enrolled in the

ASU Student Health Insurance plan

, which is mandatory for ALL international students.

It is not possible to waive this requirement.

The cost of the insurance (approximately $1,000-$2,000 USD per semester) and Student Initiated Fees ($350/semester) will be charged to the student’s ASU account. Students are also required to complete a Cost Quiz during their application process, but it is helpful for them to have this information in advance of choosing ASU.

Estimated cost of living

: International exchange students do not pay ASU tuition but must pay Student Initiated Fees that are mandatory for ASU students. Approximately $350 per semester.

Students are not able to participate in internships outside of ASU or outside the official program dates.

On-campus housing

, but our office will run a first come, first served housing interest list before sending the list over to ASU Housing. Students are not recommended to apply to on-campus housing without being approved by our office first. If students are too late/do not get a space in on-campus housing through our office, they are encouraged to find off-campus housing asap.

Housing Price Increase (as at July 2026)

The state of Arizona is experiencing a sharp increase in average rent costs, in Tempe especially. Students can expect to pay between $6,000 USD to $9,000 USD (approximately) for housing in spring.

On-campus housing

does have costs between $5,000 USD (shared bedroom) - $12,000 USD (single bedroom apartment), but on-campus housing is extremely limited.  Students can find more information
